Course Description:

Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-Calculus 10 is a pre-requisite for both the Foundations Math and the Pre-Calculus Math in Grade 11. It introduces and/or focuses on the following concepts: factoring, rational and irrational numbers, laws of exponents, operations with polynomials, trigonometry, relations and functions, slope, linear relations, graphing, linear systems, the metric system and imperial measurements.

Course Description:

Language is a tool used to communicate and express thoughts and opinions.  This course is a French Immersion elective course where students will study the basics of journalism, sociology, psychology and entrepreneurship. Students in this course will be encouraged to apply their language skills in a different context. Through collaboration and experience, students will refine their language abilities and become stronger communicators.

Course Description:

This is a course that examines contemporary Canadian Aboriginal issues. The units in this course include Aboriginal and Treaty Rights, Governance, Land Claims and Treaty Land Entitlements, Economic Development and Social Development.

The Goals of the Native Studies 30 course are to have students:

·  Appreciate the influence of Aboriginal peoples on the development of Canada.

·  Understand contemporary issues and their historical basis.

·  Understand the continuing influence of Indian and Métis philosophy on the relationships between humans and their environment.

·  Increase knowledge and understanding of Indigenous peoples.

·  Acquire and apply the skills of critical thinking.

·  Develop an understanding of their own cultural group and a sensitivity to other cultural groups.

·  Function effectively within their own and other cultural groups.

·  Develop a positive self-identity.

Course Description:

Psychology 20 is the study of human behaviour and mental processes in a social context.   It is a course designed to guide the students to a better understanding of themselves as individuals in their own right, and as part of the larger social context of their families, friends, and citizens of their country in a global community.   Psychology 20 is a course that emphasizes the application of concepts about behaviour in a variety of social contexts and situations, while guiding the students to consider the seminal question of social psychologists:   How are the thoughts, feelings and behaviours of people influenced by the actual, imagined or implied presence of others?   (Alcock, Carment and Sadava, 1998, p. 11).

Core French 20 is a virtual learning experience where students will use 21st century technology to explore the French language making learning innovative and fun.  Students have access to a qualified and experienced teacher along with the freedom to learn wherever and whenever it is convenient for them.  This course will explore the French language in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing with the goal of igniting a passion for language and culture.  This is an interactive course where students will become members of a learning community that explores content and participate in a variety of collaborative French activities.
